A privacy commissioner has charged that the site's "Friend Finder" breaks German law. The software looks at the address books of users and sends emails to friends asking them to join Facebook. (NEWSER) - How to protect your privacy on Facebook? For an increasing number of users, the answer is simple: Lie. A quarter of respondents in a new Consumer Reports study admitted that they “alter personally identifiable information,” such as birthdate, on Facebook. Technically, that’s a violation of the social networking site’s Terms of Service, the New York Times points out. (NEWSER) - Facebook today announced its largest acquisition yet: Instagram , the mobile app that lets users turn today's memories into something straight out of 1975, which will bolster Facebook's own photo services. Facebook bought the San Francisco-based service for around $1 billion in cash and shares, and has promised to let it remain independent while also integrating it into the social networking site.
