(NEWSER) - Google has unveiled a stock split that will double the number of shares while keeping co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin firmly in control. (NEWSER) - As Google works out its social-networking kinks, it has announced a new privacy setting: Google+ users will soon be able to keep their gender hidden from others. "Gender can be a sensitive topic, especially on the Internet," says a Google product manager in an online video. Starting this week users can keep their gender—"male," "female," or "other"—entirely private or public, or reveal it only to certain "circles." More»

Eric Schmidt Out as Google CEO—With $334M Payday

(NEWSER) - Google made a surprise shuffle at the top today when announcing its quarterly results: Eric Schmidt is stepping down as CEO and will be replaced by co-founder Larry Page, reports MarketWatch . Schmidt will remain with the company as executive chairman, while Page's co-founder, Sergey Brin, will take a bigger role with a focus on "strategic projects."
