(NEWSER) - Florida A&M band members will be hit with criminal charges today following a six-month investigation into the hazing death of drum major Robert Champion . The charges come as two music professors at the school have had to resign over alleged involvement in another hazing incident, their lawyer says. A student accused professors Anthony Simons and Diron Holloway of beating him and other band fraternity members in a 2010 hazing incident at Holloway's house. University President James Ammons referred to the dismissals in a memo he sent this week to members of the FAMU board, though he didn't offer any specifics on what the students actually did. (NEWSER) - All performances by Florida A&M University's famed "Marching 100" band have been suspended while police and the university investigate the death of a drum major. Over the weekend, Robert Champion, 26, collapsed outside a charter bus after a football game in which the band performed at half-time. He died in the hospital soon after and police say hazing was a factor in his death, the Orlando Sentinel reports. More»

(AP) - Thirteen people were charged today for their roles in the hazing death of a Florida A&M University drum major who was severely beaten in what appears to be one of the biggest college hazing cases ever. The charges were announced more than five months after 26-year-old Robert Champion died aboard a chartered bus. Eleven of the 13 will face a hazing-resulting-in-death charge, a third-degree felony. If convicted, they face up to nearly six years in prison. The other two will face misdemeanor charges. More»

(NEWSER) - Dartmouth College is in a tizzy over allegations of some seriously sick hazing at one of its fraternities. Former Sigma Alpha Epsilon member Andrew Lohse caused an uproar with a school newspaper column describing how pledges were pressured to swim in kiddie pools filled with puke and rotten food. The Ivy League college has since charged 27 frat members, including Lohse himself, with hazing pledges last fall, AP finds. More»
