(NEWSER) - Now that's low. Indiana cops have busted a 37-year-old man they say swiped a Game Boy from the casket of a teen killed in a car accident. The heist occurred during viewing of the 11th-grader's body at a local funeral home, said investigators. The teen's uncle confronted the robber outside the home and recovered the Game Boy, but returned to find a Game Boy light and 3 games also missing from the casket, reports the Tribune-Democrat . Jody Lynn Bennett faces various theft counts as well as charges for abuse of a corpse and desecration of venerated objects. "He's messed up," said a relative. More»

Prosecutors Won't Try Notre Dame Rape Case

Because Lizzy Seeberg's suicide makes report inadmissible

(NEWSER) - A county prosecutor has decided not to bring charges in response to allegations that a University of Notre Dame football player sexually assaulted freshman Elizabeth “Lizzy” Seeberg—in part because Seeberg killed herself, making her statements to campus police inadmissible in court. Neither the player accused of the assault nor his friend, who sent Seeberg an ominous text message, will be charged, the Chicago Tribune reports. More»

(NEWSER) - After months of speculation, Notre Dame pulled the trigger on Charlie Weis today, firing its head football coach with 6 years and at least $10 million left on his contract. Saturday's loss to Stanford, which left the Fighting Irish with a 6-6 record in Weis' fifth year at the helm, evidently was the last straw for AD Jack Swarbrick.
