The girl was in critical condition last night in a Seattle hospital. The 9-year-old boy who brought the handgun has been booked into a local juvenile detention center for investigation of unlawful possession of a firearm, bringing a dangerous weapon onto school grounds, and third-degree assault, reports the Seattle Times. He wounds one driver before being fatally shot by police

(NEWSER) - A gunman indiscriminately opened fire at passing motorists in Hollywood today, hitting one person in the head who is now critically wounded, reports the Los Angeles Times . The gunman was then shot dead by two police officers who were on a nearby movie set and alerted by bystanders. The shooting took place on Vine Street, just south of the ArcLight movie theater. More»

Two bikers in rival gang wounded

(NEWSER) - The boss of a Hells Angels gang was killed and two rival bikers were injured in a weekend shootout at a Nevada casino. A second drive-by shooting of a biker later triggered a state of emergency in the town of Sparks, though it wasn't clear if the shootings were related. Jeffrey "Jethro" Pettigrew, 51, the leader of the Hells Angels San Jose bikers, was killed in the first shooting during a confrontation with members of the Vagos motorcycle gang, according to cops. (NEWSER) - Hotel implosions aren’t exactly unheard of in Las Vegas, but it’s not every day the condemned is a brand-new, never-opened luxury tower. MGM on Monday submitted a request to the county office to implode Harmon Tower, a luxury hotel that was supposed to be the crown jewel in the Strip’s $9 billion CityCenter project, the Wall Street Journal reports. (NEWSER) - A Chicago TV station has apologized for quoting a 4-year-old boy out of context—in a way that just happened to make him sound like a wannabe gangster. A journalist reporting on a drive-by shooting that killed two teens in the boy's neighborhood asked him: "When you get older are you going to stay away from all these guns?" The boy responded "No," and said when he gets older, "I'm going to have me a gun!" The station ended the clip there, making no mention of the fact that the boy added, "I'm going to be the police!"
