(NEWSER) - A third of married women with pets consider their animals to be better listeners than their husbands, an AP poll found. And it's not just women who reach out for furry support—18% of men say their pets are better listeners than their wives. Calif. cities move to protect kitty claws while they still can

(NEWSER) - Furniture beware: Los Angeles and Beverly Hills have become the latest California cities to outlaw the declawing of cats. Santa Monica and San Francisco recently passed similar bans and others are considering banning declawing before next year, when a new state law on the regulation of veterinary medicine will effectively ban cities from banning declawing. Campaign aims to find 3,000 animals a home

(NEWSER) - Pet shelters across the nation are urging Americans to get on the Obama bandwagon and adopt a pet; as an added incentive, they're dropping regular fee for the first 10 adoptions at each of 300 participating shelters Jan. 24, USA Today reports. Fees for the 3,000 pets will be picked up by Hill's Pet Nutrition, which organized the event. More»
