(AP) - Two major victories against child prostitution today: Twenty-nine people have been indicted in a sex trafficking ring in which Somali gangs in Minneapolis allegedly forced girls under age 14 into prostitution in at least three states, according to an indictment unsealed today. The indictment said one of the gangs' goals was recruiting females under age 18, including some under age 14, and forcing them into prostitution in exchange for cash, drugs, or other items. More»

(NEWSER) - Brooklyn police have discovered the body of a baby belonging to a woman forced into prostitution by a sex trafficking couple. The tiny body of the 2-month-old baby boy was encased in cement in a cooler in a flophouse. The baby's mom, an illegal Mexican immigrant, was beaten and forced into prostitution and was not allowed to obtain medical help when her infant fell ill, police said. The baby's father was the woman's pimp, reports the New York Daily News. More»

Mom was charged with trafficking after Shaniya Davis spotted with man

(AP) - Searchers found the body of a missing 5-year-old off a road today, ending a weeklong search for the girl, whose mother stands accused of offering her for sex, police said. A Fayetteville Police spokeswoman says that searchers found Shaniya Davis' body southeast of Sanford in central North Carolina. Two people have been charged in her disappearance, including her mother, Antoinette Davis, 25. More»

Busted Teen 'Madam' Rips Pimp Charges

Ariz. 16-year-old denies running ring, says she was only a follower

(NEWSER) - A 16-year-old girl charged with running a child prostitution ring calls the charges "ridiculous," the Arizona Republic reports. The girl and a pal were the madams of a ring that recruited girls as young as 14 to have sex for money, according to Phoenix police. "We have two girls who are, in essence, pimps," said a police spokesman. "They ran their own brothel." The teen admits being involved in prostitution but insists she was only a follower. More»
