IHOP Gets a Taste of Applebee's

That's because the board of directors didn't play a role in OKing Facebook's biggest acquisition ever, reports the Wall Street Journal , which spoke to several sources who reveal that Mark Zuckerburg and Instagram honcho Kevin Systrom essentially hashed the deal out themselves over three days in meetings at Zuckerberg's home. By last Sunday morning, Zuck had talked Systrom down from $2 billion to $1 billion; that was the morning he also clued the board in on his plan. More»

(NEWSER) - Facebook today announced its largest acquisition yet: Instagram , the mobile app that lets users turn today's memories into something straight out of 1975, which will bolster Facebook's own photo services. Facebook bought the San Francisco-based service for around $1 billion in cash and shares, and has promised to let it remain independent while also integrating it into the social networking site. Nevada IHOP Shooter Identified

Eyewitnesses describe horrific scene as Eduardo Sencion began shooting

(NEWSER) - Eyewitnesses are coming forward to talk about yesterday's horrific shooting at an IHOP in Carson City, Nevada. The gunman has been identified as 32-year-old Eduardo Sencion, and witnesses say he was carrying an AK-47, which he reloaded at least once, according to the Reno Gazette-Journal . Three of the four people Sencion killed were uniformed National Guardsmen, and some witnesses believe he was targeting them—which would be ironic, since Sencion’s minivan bore a ribbon-shaped “Support Our Troops” decal.
