(NEWSER) - Even for die-hard swimmers, surfers, and sunbathers, sometimes a day at the beach is anything but, thanks to way, way too many people. The good news is that there are still undiscovered beaches out there. Travel + Leisure went scouting for such secret beaches. Here are its best finds:

• Todos Santos, Baja California Sur, Mexico: This artist colony is way cooler in both temperature and temperament than the Margaritaville of Cabo San Lucas, an hour to the south. Pacific breezes stir up rough and tumbling waves that have made this kicked-back community a surfer’s haven.

Planned resort to feature signs in Mandarin, staff familiar with Chinese culture

(NEWSER) - With Chinese tourism to the UK booming, a developer is planning a resort village aimed at their specific needs. But it's not exactly a stone's throw from London's attractions: Instead, it's calling itself "just three hours away" in Wales. Pantglas Estate would house a 92-bedroom hotel and 80 cottages, with signage in Mandarin and English and staff knowledgeable about Chinese culture, the Telegraph reports. More»

Authorities are 'winging it' on water safety

(NEWSER) - Just when they thought it was safe to go back in the water, hundreds of swimmers reported feeling ill after braving the waves when Pensacola authorities lifted the "no swimming" flag. Local officials rejected EPA advice to close beaches and are instead relying on lifeguards to spot oil and on bathers to use common sense and not swim where they see oil, the Christian Science Monitor reports. Surf etiquette signs posted to defuse conflicts

(NEWSER) - Sydney is taking steps to defuse the growing number of "surf rage" incidents at beaches shared by beginners and life-long surfers. Signs are going up at popular beaches warning newbies to follow surf etiquette by not "dropping in"—catching a wave claimed by somebody else—or "snaking a wave," which is a sneakier version of the drop-in. 26-year-old claims Briton removed pants, forcibly fondled her

(NEWSER) - A Greek woman is being hailed as a hero after torching a lecherous British tourist’s genitals, the Telegraph reports. A 23-year-old Briton had allegedly taken off his pants and flashed his privates at women in a nightclub in the resort town of Mallia on the island of Crete.
