Actor appears in Colorado court to answer to domestic abuse allegations

(NEWSER) - Charlie Sheen was arraigned today in Aspen, Colo., on a felony charge of menacing and two misdemeanors after a Christmas Day fight with his wife, Brooke Mueller. The judge also lifted a restraining order that had been in place since Mueller summoned police, saying the actor had threatened her with a knife. 1. The Aspen Skiing Company, Colorado: This four-mountain resort said to be at the center of the green movement began eco-friendly initiatives in 1997 using wind power and biodiesel.
2. Smugglers’ Notch Family Resort, Vermont: Green initiatives here include energy efficiency, recycling, water conservation, and wildlife protection.

Vail program would encourage recycling

Aspen re-opens its slopes and Washington expects 5 inches

(NEWSER) - As the sun scorches the East Coast, the West is shivering from a brisk few weeks. Areas of Washington are expected to get up to 5 inches of snow, while Aspen, Colo., is re-opening its slopes. There's still an average of 3 feet of white stuff on Aspen Mountain's upper slopes, which will reopen June 13 to 15, leftover from winter's record snowfall. More»

Authorities say there was never a threat to safety

(NEWSER) - A US Airways flight from Paris to North Carolina was diverted to Maine after a woman claimed to have a device implanted in her body. Authorities have since determined that she posed "basically no threat," but the flight was halted "out of an abundance of caution," according to the TSA. The woman didn't threaten the flight, officials say; she simply gave the flight crew a note alerting them to the purported device. More»
