Huffington Post breaks down naming trends

(NEWSER) - Not only are celebrity baby names usually weird—it turns out they also tend to follow some quirky trends. The Huffington Post took a random sample of 50 famous babies and found that their names fell into 10 categories:

• Colors: The most popular category includes Blue Ivy Carter and at least four other babies with some version of that color in their name, plus at least three Violets.
• Authors: The second most popular category includes some relatively mainstream names, like Dylan Douglas, but it also includes Tommy Lee Jones' daughter, whose middle name is … Kafka.

Samuel Garner Affleck, Ben announces on Facebook

(NEWSER) - Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck are the parents of a baby boy, reports Us Weekly . They're no strangers to the unique-celeb-name-game—their daughters are Violet, 6, and Seraphina, 3—but they went with something a bit more traditional for the new addition: Samuel Garner Affleck. Take your pick: Bear, Moroccan, or Zuzu

(NEWSER) - Celebrities tend to choose some very, er, interesting names for their offspring, but this year two names stood out: Bear Blu Jarecki, born to Alicia Silverstone, and Moroccan Cannon, born to Mariah Carey. Those two tied for the worst celebrity baby boy names of 2011 on a new BabyNames.com poll, ABC News reports. The worst baby girl name "award" went to Zuzu Audrey Peterson, daughter of a former Top Chef Just Desserts contestant. Poll respondents also didn't like the name Mirabella Bunny, daughter to Bryan Adams, or Kevin James' choice for his son, Kannon. More»
