(NEWSER) - Days after a new "Snowmaggedon" slammed the Pacific Northwest, an ice storm and floods have left two dead in the region. Seattle's snow began Tuesday night; the city measured a daily snowfall of 6.8 inches early yesterday, blowing away the previous record of 2.9 inches in 1954. Washington's governor declared a state of emergency as airports and schools closed and at least 300,000 households suffered blackouts. (NEWSER) - The mother of all storms is headed for Alaska. Forecasters says more than a foot of snow could be dumped on the state's western coast ... and that's not all. Near hurricane-strength winds will churn up the Bering Sea, producing seas as high as 25 feet, which are expected to cause serious flooding along the coast. Major highways closed as some areas get 2 feet of snow

(NEWSER) - A blizzard in North Dakota led to a 100-vehicle pileup on I-94, KFYR-TV reports. Drivers were stranded for hours near Fargo with visibility less than 10 feet in some areas. “It was a little surreal there for a while,” said one observer.
