He breaks leg in Manhattan crash

(NEWSER) - This Is Spinal Tap actor Michael McKean was seriously injured yesterday when he was struck by a car on Manhattan's Upper West Side. The vehicle barreled into him as he was crossing the street, according to witnesses. “He’ll be OK, hopefully he’ll be fine,” said a spokeswoman. "It's pretty devastating." McKean, 62, broke his leg in the accident and suffered cuts and abrasions to his head. McKean's wife, actress Annette O’Toole, was flying from Los Angeles to be with her husband. Quarter of schedule devoted to comedy

(NEWSER) - NBC is looking to comedy to help it climb the ratings ladder: Nearly 25% of the network's fare next season will consist of sitcoms, up from just 14% last fall. Execs are aiming to recapture the highly-educated young adults that helped propel Seinfeld and Friends, the Los Angeles Times reports. And "audiences have been very receptive to comedy and light fantasy drama the past couple of seasons," says chairman Bob Greenblatt. More»
