Their proposal would end the Bush tax cuts, add new tax brackets for millionaires, and raise corporate taxes. It would also add a public option to health care and boost Medicare’s drug-price negotiating power—and it would allow for $1.4 trillion in new investments. (NEWSER) - The leaders of the Group of 20 nations wrapped up their 2-day summit today in Toronto, striking an agreement to reduce deficits over the next 3 to 6 years without endangering the global economic rebound. (AP) - The US economy grew for a second straight quarter from October through December, posting a better-than-expected 5.7% annual rate—the fastest quarterly pace since 2003. The Commerce Department report is the strongest evidence to date that the worst recession since the 1930s ended last year, though an academic panel that dates recessions has yet to officially declare it over.
