Authorities use DNA evidence to find Graff jewelry suspects

Staten Island pooch helps scare off home invader

(NEWSER) - A courageous dog saved the day in Staten Island when he helped scare off a home invader and survived a bullet to the head, reports the New York Post . The drama began when a burglar disguised as a FedEx deliveryman tried to break into Justin Becker's apartment. Becker threw the man to the ground and wedged him into the doorway. Kilo, Becker's 12-year-old pit bull, then leaped into action. That's when the would-be burglar shot him and fled. More»

(NEWSER) - Jacob Kiss, otherwise known as the guy in the Gumby costume who epically failed in his quest to rob a San Diego 7-Eleven last week, is still not winning. Kiss, 19, turned himself in to police yesterday, accompanied by alleged accomplice Jason Giramma, also 19, who was pictured in the surveillance video but was not dressed as a cartoon character. Cops contacted Giramma last week and told him he and his pal must surrender, SignonSanDiego reports, adding that investigators confiscated the infamous Gumby suit when Kiss brought it in. (NEWSER) - One for the Legendary Fail Department: A person dressed in a Gumby costume attempted to rob a San Diego 7-Eleven on Monday. Here are the problems the would-be criminal ran into: One, the clerk thought it was a joke. Even after Gumby said, "This is a robbery," the employee replied he had cleaning duties to attend to and didn't have time for him. Two, if said would-be robber had a weapon, he couldn't get to it.
