(NEWSER) - Colin Powell has come out in favor of same-sex marriage. "I have no problem with it," he told CNN . "In terms of the legal matter of creating a contract between two people that's called marriage, and allowing them to live together with the protection of law, it seems to me that is the way we should be moving in this country. And so I support the president's decision." North Carolina preacher gives an, er, colorful sermon

(NEWSER) - North Carolina pastor Charles Worley has an, er, unorthodox suggestion for how to spread God's love to gay people. "Build a great, big, large fence—150 or 100 miles long—put all the lesbians in there. Do the same thing for the queers and the homosexuals, and have that fence electrified so they can't get out," he suggested in a sermon last week, which was posted to YouTube today and spotted by the Huffington Post and other blogs. Voters Question Obama's Gay-Marriage Motivation

67% say announcement was made for political reasons

(NEWSER) - Most voters are OK with President Obama's stand on gay marriage but they're pretty skeptical about the reason for the "evolution," the latest New York Times / CBS poll finds. Some 67%—including a majority of independents and almost half of Democrats—believe Obama made the announcement "mostly for political reasons," while only 24% believe he came out in favor of gay marriage "mostly because he thinks it is right." Echoing an earlier Gallup poll , the new poll found that some 60% of voters say the announcement won't affect how they vote. More»
