Choir must recognize that 'God intends sex between married heteros'

(NEWSER) - California megachurch Crystal Cathedral Ministries is in hot water again—this time for requiring choir members to sign a "sex covenant." It seems that "God intends" sex to occur only between married heterosexuals, and members were ordered to sign a statement acknowledging that. The covenant is meant to "clarify" expectations of choir members, said a pastor of the Hour of Power Orange County church, which has been accused of financial irregularities , and declared bankruptcy last year. Pastor Sheila Schuller Coleman apologized for any "hurt" caused to "people we care about deeply," but is apparently standing by the covenant. More»

Cops say gang beat, sodomized man, 2 teens in empty house

(NEWSER) - A loose-knit gang lured a 30-year-old man to a vacant Bronx house last Sunday night, ostensibly for a party. Instead, police say, they tortured and sodomized him for hours, forced him to consume vast quantities of alcohol, then robbed his house—because he was gay. Police have charged nine in the attack, as well as similar attacks earlier in the day on two teenagers linked to the man, reports the New York Times. More»

(NEWSER) - If one of McDonald's new series of "diversity ads" involves gays, can one featuring Al Qaeda be far behind? That's what Bill O'Reilly wants to know after viewing a French ad featuring a gay teen and his dad, and now furious critics are demanding he apologize. "Bill O'Reilly should be ashamed for equating a family with a gay son to terrorists," a spokesman for the Human Rights Campaign tells the New York Daily News .
