(NEWSER) - An Arizona man has been busted for firing a high-powered rifle at high school baseball players, police said. A Willcox High School student suffered minor injuries when the gunman shot at his car as the teen was driving with a teammate to fetch a bucket of balls near the baseball field where other players were practicing, the Range Weekly reports. A school employee was also shot at as he tried to clear the area. (AP) - Seattle Mariners outfielder Greg Halman was stabbed to death in Rotterdam today, and his brother has been arrested as a suspect, Dutch police tell the AP . Police were called to a home in the wee hours of the morning, where they found Halman, 24, still bleeding but were unable to resuscitate him. His brother, 22, has been taken in for questioning, but has not yet been charged. "It will take some time to figure out what exactly happened," a police spokesman said. More»

(NEWSER) - A 76-year-old Boy Scout leader has died after being stabbed in the neck yesterday while taking another adult and two boys on a hike, reports AP . Police busted Shane Golitko, a 22-year-old man who lives close to the Indiana hiking trail where the unprovoked attack occurred. Golitko's mother called 911 just before the stabbing, saying he broke her arm and stabbed two dogs before walking to the trail where the Boy Scouts were walking, said investigators. Worse: The jokes came from her algebra teacher, reports KTRK-TV . "I bet you're grieving," the teacher told the girl Monday in front of the class. When she asked why, he said he had heard about her uncle's death.
