Surveillance video shows a camera around the shooter's neck

(NEWSER) - As if there could be a crueler twist to the Jewish school shooting in Toulouse that yesterday rocked France: France's interior minister today revealed that the gunman likely filmed the killings. The school's surveillance video revealed that a video camera was attached to the killer's neck, reports Reuters . "This adds another element to the profile of the killer. It is someone who is cruel enough to record it," says Claude Gueant, "someone who is very cold, very determined, with precise gestures, and therefore very cruel." More»

College Student Busted in Rampage Threat

He vowed to kill enough 'to make national news,' say cops

(NEWSER) - A University of Maryland student has been busted after he threatened on the Internet to go on a shooting rampage at the College Park campus and "kill enough people to make national news," said law enforcement authorities. Alexander Song, 19, of Maryland, also warned people reading his site to "stay away from the mall" near campus, reports the Baltimore Sun . A former student who spotted the comments on Reddit.com, and two other people who had contact with Song on omegle.com informed the school, according to cops. More»

Third-Grader Shot With Classmate's Gun

Boy, 9, booked on suspicion of assault

(NEWSER) - A third-grade girl was shot in the stomach yesterday at her Washington state elementary school when a loaded handgun in the backpack of a classmate apparently discharged accidentally, said officials. The girl was in critical condition last night in a Seattle hospital. The 9-year-old boy who brought the handgun has been booked into a local juvenile detention center for investigation of unlawful possession of a firearm, bringing a dangerous weapon onto school grounds, and third-degree assault, reports the Seattle Times.
