Unexpected deficit sparks 'urgent' call for donations by tomorrow
(NEWSER) - Rick Warren’s Saddleback Church has hit a major fundraising speedbump and has asked members to help out with almost $1 million by tomorrow. Warren described the situation yesterday in an “urgent letter unlike any I've written in 30 years.” Last weekend, “our total offerings were less than half of what we normally receive—leaving us $900,000 in the red for the year, unless you help make up the difference today and tomorrow.” The church usually pulls in about $600,000 on a non-holiday weekend, notes ABC News .
