Culture has become cynical, apolitical
(NEWSER) - When the latest round of Mideast peace talks was announced, Roger Cohen of the New York Times watched the people of Tel Aviv shrug, yawn, and change the channel. “Peace talks! The sequel! It’s like Rocky! And I’m supposed to pay attention?” quipped one food writer. Israeli life has become so modern and comfortable that no one cares about Palestine anymore, Cohen reports. “This used to be a very, very political society, and it no longer is,” says one Israeli historian. “People don’t trust politics, they don’t really believe in peace.” More»
