(NEWSER) - Smoking marijuana three hours or less before getting behind the wheel nearly doubles your chance of a major car crash, a study suggests. It's the first study to look at the link between cannabis and crash risk, the Canadian researchers believe. They examined study data for more than 49,000 collision victims, limiting their research to crashes that didn't involve alcohol, CBC reports. "The level of impairment might not be as severe as alcohol intoxication, but it's there and it does require a public health response," says an expert. More»

TSA Agent Lets Rapper Keep Weed, Leaves Note

"C'Mon Son," chides baggage screener

(NEWSER) - TSA agents are basically known for collectively killing America's buzz, but here's an unusual exception out of the Denver International Airport: A TSA agent there discovered marijuana in rapper Freddie Gibbs' luggage, but instead of confiscating the weed, the baggage screener just left an admonishing note reading, "C'mon son." The agent let the rapper keep his stash. Gibbs tweeted a photo of the note and "probably just got the guy fired," concludes Gawker . How much weed was he able to slide through security? CBS Reporter, Wife Busted for Growing Weed

Cops: radio correspondent nabbed with 11 plants

(NEWSER) - A celebrated CBS reporter and his wife have been arrested in DC for possession of pot and intent to distribute, reports Radar . Howard Arenstein, a correspondent for CBS Radio News, and his wife, Orly Azoulay, a correspondent for an Israeli newspaper, were busted for growing 11 marijuana plants (average height: 8 feet) in their Georgetown home, investigators said. Mystery ingredients give health officials the willies

(NEWSER) - A new synthetic substance that mimics the high of marijuana—and is legal—has American teenagers buzzing. But the herb-based substance, known as K2 or Spice, is giving health authorities the willies because its ingredients and effects are largely unknown. It's made in Asia and sold online and in some stores, marketed as incense. But the bags of herbs are sprayed with a chemical that copies the high-inducing element of marijuana, THC. More»
