(NEWSER) - A University of Maryland student has been busted after he threatened on the Internet to go on a shooting rampage at the College Park campus and "kill enough people to make national news," said law enforcement authorities. Alexander Song, 19, of Maryland, also warned people reading his site to "stay away from the mall" near campus, reports the Baltimore Sun . A former student who spotted the comments on Reddit.com, and two other people who had contact with Song on omegle.com informed the school, according to cops. More»

Boy, 9, booked on suspicion of assault

(NEWSER) - A third-grade girl was shot in the stomach yesterday at her Washington state elementary school when a loaded handgun in the backpack of a classmate apparently discharged accidentally, said officials. The girl was in critical condition last night in a Seattle hospital. The 9-year-old boy who brought the handgun has been booked into a local juvenile detention center for investigation of unlawful possession of a firearm, bringing a dangerous weapon onto school grounds, and third-degree assault, reports the Seattle Times. One Dead, 11 Injured in Frat House Shooting

Six students hurt, and 25-year-old student dead

(AP) - A shooting at a fraternity house killed one student and injured 11 people, including six students, just north of the Youngstown State University campus, authorities say. The shooting happened during a party early today and no arrests have been made, but police say they have at least one suspect. The coroner's office identified the dead student as 25-year-old Jamail E. Johnson. He was shot once in the head and multiple times on his hips and legs, and an autopsy is planned for tomorrow. More»
