Republican upset over president's Supreme Court comments

(NEWSER) - Sen. Charles Grassley is in hot water today after a tweet Saturday in which the Iowa Republican called President Obama stupid. "Constituents askd why i am not outraged at PresO attack on supreme court independence. Bcause Am ppl r not stupid as this x prof of con law," Grassley tweeted . CNN notes that Grassley has long been quite vocal in his criticism of Obama, and this time around he was apparently upset at Obama's comments on the possibility of the "unelected" Supreme Court overturning ObamaCare. (NEWSER) - In the circus that is the Senate these days, a couple of anti-public-option Republicans—Tom Coburn and David Vitter—rolled out an amendment to the health care bill Friday requiring members of Congress to enroll in any such plan that might come to pass. When Dems didn’t object—Sherrod Brown, Chris Dodd, and Al Franken tried to cosponsor, but were rebuffed—GOP senators upped the ante and added in the president. (NEWSER) - With the GOP line against President Obama's health care plan hardening, Dems see little hope of cooperation and are now poised to set out on their own, drawing a final plan solely from within their own party, the New York Times reports. Specter accuses Grassley of spreading false info

(NEWSER) - Arlen Specter and Chuck Grassley engaged in a very 21st-century sniping match today, ABC's Jake Tapper reports. The 79-year-old Pennsylvania Democrat took to Twitter to accuse the 75-year-old Iowa Republican of spreading "myths about health care reform and imaginary ‘death panels.' " He was referring to comments Grassley made at a forum this week in Iowa. We "should not have a government run plan to decide when to pull the plug on grandma," Grassley said. More»
