Jurors deadlocked in Nicollette Sheridan's wrongful dismissal suit against Marc Cherry

(NEWSER) - With jurors deadlocked 8-4 in favor of actress Nicollette Sheridan's wrongful dismissal lawsuit against Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry and ABC, a Los Angeles judge has declared a mistrial. After three days of deliberations, jurors could not get the ninth vote they needed to reach a verdict, reports CNN . Sheridan had sought $5.7 million in damages, and contends that Cherry killed off her character after she complained that he hit her during rehearsals. Electric City to feature post-apocalyptic world

(NEWSER) - Tom Hanks will soon release his long-in-the-works futuristic animated series—where else?—on the web. Twenty episodes of Electric City, just four minutes or so each, will premiere on Yahoo this spring. The series features an apparently peaceful city in a post-apocalyptic world, and deals with political and social issues relevant today. "On the surface, the Electric City is utopia and under the surface, Electric City is secrets and heavy-handed state control," says the head of original programming at Yahoo. "This is perfect for a lean-forward audience who likes to utilize the medium of the Internet." More»

(NEWSER) - When you want to ogle an actor, the Internet Movie Database is a reasonable destination. So which 10 celebs racked up the most IMDb profile page views in 2011? The top spot now belongs to Natalie Portman , who snagged the crown from Johnny Depp (now No. 3, he's been No. 1 for six out of the last seven years). IMDb's managing editor certainly isn't shocked at the new queen bee: Natalie "won a Best Actress Oscar for Black Swan, was in the news welcoming a son into the world in June, and appeared in three films."
