Ashamed private later shot himself in portable toilet

(NEWSER) - Four US Army soldiers in Iraq have been charged with cruelty and maltreatment for hazing a private who later killed himself, MSNBC reports. The NCOs allegedly hazed 19-year-old Keiffer P. Wilhelm with excessive physical exercise while showering him with verbal abuse. Wilhelm, self-conscious about his weight, shot himself in a portable toilet about 2 weeks ago. Colonel acquitted of abuse charges, convicted for talking about investigation

Steven Jordan, the only officer charged in the Abu Ghraib prison scandal, of three charges relating to widespread prisoner abuse that led to global denunciations of US involvement in Iraq. Taguba was tasked by the Army with investigating and reporting on the situation. Unremorseful Lynndie England 'won't apologize to enemy'

(NEWSER) - Poor Lynndie England. The female soldier linked to shocking abuse at the infamous Abu Ghraib military prison remains steadfastly unremorseful about what happened, and apparently believes the prisoners ended up faring better than she has. Prisoners' "lives are better. They got the better end of the deal,” Lynndie England tells the Daily from her parents' home in West Virginia. “They weren’t innocent. They’re trying to kill us, and you want me to apologize to them? It’s like saying sorry to the enemy.” England served more than 500 days in a military prison and was dishonorably discharged for her part in the physical and psychological abuse of prisoners in the facility near Baghdad.
