(NEWSER) - President Obama and Benjamin Netanyahu tried to project an image of unity today as the president welcomed his Israeli counterpart to the Oval Office. Speaking to reporters before their closed-door meeting, Obama said, "The United States will always have Israel's back," echoing his AIPAC speech. Netanyahu, meanwhile, thanked the president for recognizing that "Israel has the sovereign right to make its own decisions." (NEWSER) - President Obama got heckled at one of his own fundraisers last night, USA Today reports. "Use your leadership! No war in Iran!" a woman yelled. "Nobody has announced a war, young lady," Obama responded, to laughter and cheers. "But we appreciate your sentiment. You're jumping the gun a little bit there." Iran and its nuclear program will likely be a hot topic all weekend, with Obama slated to speak to pro-Israeli lobbying group AIPAC Sunday and meet with Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Monday. Obama Orders Sanctions Against Iran's Central Bank

Tougher measures were included under NDAA

(NEWSER) - President Obama issued an executive order today imposing tough new sanctions on Iran's Central Bank. The order freezes "all property and interests in property of the Government of Iran," and of "any Iranian financial institution." The sanctions were included in the controversial defense bill Obama signed a little over a month ago, but Obama is instituting them well ahead of the six-month deadline the bill imposed, the AP reports.
