(NEWSER) - Toward the end of his life Michael Jackson was so desperate for prescription drugs, sources tell investigators he harmed himself in an effort to get more, the Mirror reports. Jackson was reportedly spending nearly $50,000 a month on drugs including Vicodin, Soma, Xanax, Zoloft, Paxil, and Prilosec, and he was beset with side effects from shaking fits to hallucinations. (NEWSER) - A British doctor friend of Michael Jackson fired off a letter to President Obama—or "Barack," as she calls him—pleading for tougher laws for "unethical doctors" who ply patients with drugs. Dr. Susan Etok, who says she turned down more than $800,000 from the King of Pop for controlled substances, tells the president that the Jackson family supports stronger protections. (NEWSER) - A man claiming to be Michael Jackson’s secret gay lover has stepped forward, telling Australia’s Woman’s Day, “I’ve lost my soul mate.” Jason Pfeiffer, 35, works for Jackson’s dermatologist, Dr. Arnold Klein, and claims his relationship with the King of Pop started with phone calls and progressed to a “first date” in Pfeiffer’s car: “We went for a drive and were talking and having fun, but Michael had his minders who were 'nosy,' as Michael put it.
