Boxer Gatti's Wife to Face Murder Charge

(AP) - Boxer Arturo Gatti's death was ruled a suicide by Brazilian police today, and a judge ordered the release of his wife, once suspected of killing the former champion. Trio sold meat pies, too: police

(NEWSER) - A Brazilian man, his wife and his mistress have been arrested for suspected cannibalism. Police say the trio killed at least two women, ate part of their bodies, and made the rest into meat pies which they sold in their small town in northeast Brazil. Jorge Beltrao Negroponte, 51, admitted in a television interview yesterday that he listened to the voice in his head ordering him to eat parts of the women to "purify them," but he didn't say anything about the meat pies. (NEWSER) - Does Brazil have its own version of Josef Fritzl ? Police arrested Joao Batista Groppo, 64, after it was discovered he had kept his wife, Sebastiana, locked in a cellar for 8 years. Actually, the period of time is in dispute—Groppo initially told police it had been 16 years, but he later said it was 8, which was confirmed by his son.
