(NEWSER) - Barry Bonds will almost certainly never play again, his agent said today, finally admitting what had seemed a fait accompli. “If there was any chance he'd be back in a major-league uniform, it would have happened by now,” Jeff Borris tells the San Francisco Chronicle . “When 2008 came around, I couldn't get him a job. MLB closing investigation into whether he lied

(NEWSER) - MLB will not discipline Alex Rodriguez after investigating whether he lied to baseball officials about using steroids, the New York Times reports. In March, Rodriguez admitted to investigators and the public that he had used performance-enhancing drugs, but only from 2001 to 2003. After a book published in April suggested he continued using well after that, baseball officials opened an investigation into A-Rod's truthfulness. More»

(NEWSER) - President Obama will toss the ceremonial first pitch at the All-Star Game on July 14, Major League Baseball announced yesterday. He’ll be the fourth president to do so, following John F. Kennedy, Richard Nixon, and Gerald Ford, and the seventh to attend the game. He’s also got some first-pitch experience; he did the honors for his beloved Chicago White Sox during the 2005 playoffs.
