(NEWSER) - A rambling bear apparently looking for new wild life on a University of Colorado campus yesterday ended up cooling his heels in a tree. The young male was "pretty mellow, resting on a branch for close to two hours" near student apartments at the Boulder school, said a campus cop. Officials shot a tranquilizer dart into the animal, which tumbled from the tree onto a large mat. The bear will be taken some 50 miles away and released in the woods, a spokesman told ABC News . Won fame for visit to University of Colorado

(NEWSER) - His sense of adventure, it seems, finally got the better of him. A bear who made his name by showing up on campus at the University of Colorado —where he relaxed in a tree before being tranquilized and tumbling into photographic infamy—has been killed by a car on US 36, the AP reports. Officials know it was the same bear because of a tag placed on his ear following the college incident, after which he had been relocated to a wilderness area about 50 miles west of Boulder. (NEWSER) - The small Colorado community of Nederland is looking to sell the rights to its annual Frozen Dead Guy Days festival, ideally to an event company that will retain all the morbid splendor that comes with … throwing a party in honor of a frozen dead man. The trademarked three-day fest honors Norwegian Bredo Morstoel, who has been packed in dry ice in a storage shed there since 1993. He died in 1989 at age 89, and his family preserved his body in hopes technology will be developed to bring him back to life. More»
