Mom found children unresponsive after visit with father

(NEWSER) - A man separated from his wife was arrested yesterday after his two young children were found unresponsive in his home and were later declared dead. Police believe the father strangled the girl, 4, and 2-year-old boy, reports the Telegraph. They were discovered by their mom, who arrived to collect the children after a visit with their father. The neighborhood was a gritty one at the time, and a longtime resident tells the New York Times the seedy bodega had a "hostile" feeling and was rumored to host cockfights in the basement.
