(AP) - Four blasts within minutes rocked the center of the eastern Ukrainian city of Dnipropetrovsk today, injuring at least 15 people in what prosecutors believe was a terrorist attack, officials say. The first blast occurred at a tramway stop in the center of Dnipropetrovsk, injuring five people. The second injured seven people outside a movie theater, while the third wounded three near a railway station. (NEWSER) - Two suicide bombings in Afghanistan killed at least 18 people today, including eight policemen in an attack on a police station in southern Helmand province, reports the AP . (NEWSER) - A former US Marine was arrested Friday after threatening to kill Vice President Joe Biden, authorities say. Justin Alan Woodward was arrested upon his arrival in Hawaii from Thailand, and he admitted to Secret Service agents he had sent messages from Thailand, the AP reports. One expletive-ridden message, sent to the White House website in June, said, “Biden ... you tried to get me to kill Obama in my home town of El Dorado Kansas. I will kill you myself” and also mentions 9/11 and Osama bin Laden. More»

(NEWSER) - India still has no idea who was behind the three explosions that killed 18 people in Mumbai yesterday, and the government has admitted it had no inkling the attacks were coming. “Whoever planned this attack worked in a very, very clandestine manner,” Indian Home Minister Palaniappan Chidambaram told reporters yesterday, according to the Wall Street Journal . But he insisted that it was “not a failure of intelligence,” adding that policing such crowded areas is difficult. “Every city in India is vulnerable,” he said. More»

(NEWSER) - News of Osama bin Laden's death was met with dancing in the streets , but officials are warning Americans that his death could bring reprisals. The State Department issued a worldwide travel alert yesterday and today put US embassies on alert, warning of an "enhanced potential for anti-American violence given recent counterterrorism activity in Pakistan," the AP reports. The warning continues, "Given the uncertainty and volatility of the current situation, US citizens in areas where recent events could cause anti-American violence are strongly urged to limit their travel outside of their homes and hotels and avoid mass gatherings and demonstrations."
