The $600 Cannondale hybrid, which had a prominent identifying sticker on it, was listed for sale for $100 and Lesh arranged to meet with the seller-slash-thief to take the bike for a test ride. (NEWSER) - A Chicago man allegedly took quite a few pains to break into a dollar store and steal deodorant: Police say the suspect first stole a Bobcat loader from a construction site a block away, then used it to break the windows at West Side Family Dollar. In addition to the two cans of deodorant, he allegedly also nabbed some gift cards, but didn’t even attempt to grab the cash register. He was arrested nearby after the alarm company, which watched the entire incident via its cameras, alerted police, the Tribune reports. More»

(NEWSER) - How to steal a 10-ton bridge? Easy: Just pretend you've been hired to demolish it. That's what a gang of metal thieves allegedly did in the Czech Republic recently, showing employees at a depot forged paperwork and telling them the bridge over unused railroad tracks needed to come down. "The thieves said they had been hired to demolish the bridge, and remove the unwanted railway track to make way for a new cycle route," says a railroad spokesperson. More»
