(AP) - Authorities in Mexico's Gulf coast state of Campeche said yesterday they are investigating a tape depicting sixth-graders filming themselves having sex inside their school. State Education Department spokesman Omar Kantun said the video was apparently made in an empty classroom during recess in late April. "It is real, the case is real, the video exists," Kantun said. Allegedly hired hit man, from same base as Afghanistan shooter

(NEWSER) - Police in Washington state have arrested an Army lieutenant colonel described as "ready to snap" by his commanding officer. Robert Underwood, 46, has been charged with felony harassment for allegedly hiring a hit man to kill his wife and the commanding officer. Prosecutors say Underwood, who is in the middle of a bitter divorce battle, also threatened to blow up the state Capitol building and spoke of joining the Taliban. He was reported to police by his girlfriend, who says he threatened to kill her as well after she found child pornography—involving a young female relative, and possibly children in either Afghanistan or Iraq, where he served—on his laptop. Outside pressure appears to force website's hand

(NEWSER) - Before yesterday, link aggregator Reddit had no official ban on users posting "suggestive or sexual content featuring minors," but that changed with a posting from administrators last night. Reddit explained that it's now banning such content, despite the concern that the ban will prove to be a "slippery slope" for the site, which New York's Daily Intel blog notes has defined itself with its extremely hands-off approach and fervent support of free speech. "We will tirelessly defend the right to freely share information on reddit in any way we can, even if it is offensive or discusses something that may be illegal," the posting notes, but child pornography "is a toxic and unique case." The site noted that in the case of child porn, it previously abided by "strict legal guidelines" provided by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. More»
