Deuce, 7 Others Face NFL Suspensions Over Drug Tests

McAllister, other Saints head list

(NEWSER) - At least eight NFL players have tested positive for banned substances, including the Saints’ Deuce McAllister, Will Smith, and Charles Grant, and Houston’s Bryan Pittman, reports Denver's Fox 31 and ESPN. Many of the accused, including Pittman, are big linemen who tested positive for the weight-loss diuretic Bumentanide, which can mask other drugs or steroids. Golf Groups Ban Drugs, Will Start Screening

PGA will implement its new anti-doping policy beginning next season

(NEWSER) - Finally catching up with other professional sports, major golf groups today announced new anti-doping policies, to be put into effect in 2008. Though the PGA Tour isn't adopting the World Anti-Doping Association list of banned substances, the AP reports, it has its own laundry list, which includes anabolic agents, hormones, stimulants, masking agents and narcotics. Colts Make Andrew Luck No. 1 Pick

Stanford quarterback will head to Peyton Manning's old team

(NEWSER) - The Indianapolis Colts stuck to the plan tonight in the NFL draft and made Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck this year's No. 1 pick, reports the Indianapolis Star . ESPN's Adam Schefter tweeted that he will get a four-year deal for $22 million. That's relatively modest by NFL standards, but Bleacher Report says it's part of a trend in which "rookies are no longer getting huge contracts." More»
