(NEWSER) - As Amanda Knox appeals her murder conviction, her parents must now also go on trial. An Italian judge today ordered Edda Mellas and Curt Knox to stand trial for libel, after they repeated in a newspaper interview Knox's claims that she was mistreated by police during her night-long interrogation after the 2007 murder of roommate Meredith Kercher. Kercher's family sues for millions in damages

(NEWSER) - An Italian lawyer today called Amanda Knox a “she-devil” for her role in falsely incriminating his client, Patrick Lumumba, in the murder of Meredith Kercher. In early statements to police, Knox said she sat terrified while Lumumba murdered her roommate. Knox appears “angelic,” Lumumba’s lawyer Carlo Pacelli said, but, he asked: "Who is the real Amanda Knox? Is it the one we see before us her, all soap and water purity? (NEWSER) - Amanda Knox, the American student accused of killing her British roommate while studying in Italy, says the police beat her during questioning, the AP reports. "Everything that I said was said in confusion and under pressure," Knox testified today. (NEWSER) - Witnesses in the Amanda Knox trial testified today that they heard screams and the sound of multiple people fleeing the scene the night of Meredith Kercher’s murder, ABC News reports. An elderly woman who lives near the crime scene said she heard a scream that “made my skin crawl,” followed by at least two sets of footsteps running away.
