(NEWSER) - To beard or not to beard? Amid much contradictory research, a group of psychologists was determined to find out once and for all whether women prefer the scruffy look. Turns out they don't, the New Zealand and Canadian researchers discovered. They showed 200 women from New Zealand and Samoa pictures of 19 men from the same countries with full beards, then pictures of those men after shaving—two shots were taken in each case, one normal, and one in which the man was instructed to look angry. Seven times as many women stay when serious illness strikes

(NEWSER) - Relationships fail seven times more often when illness strikes the female partner than when it strikes the man. Researchers don't know why, but theories abound: “There is an immediate shift in a relationship when an illness is diagnosed,” a counselor tells the Times of London. (NEWSER) - Men, if you want to win over your date, maybe you should skip the shower. A chemical found in both sexes' sweat attracts women, a study suggests. A researcher in Scotland dabbed a bit of the testosterone-derived chemical on female subjects’ upper lips before a speed-dating session, the Independent reports.
