Three youths charged as adults, held without bail, for taped killing

(NEWSER) - Chicago police have charged three teens with the murder of Derrion Albert, the high school honor student whose vicious beating was captured on video and widely circulated. Silvanus Shannon, 19, Eugene Riley, 18, and Eric Carson, 16, were all charged as adults with first-degree murder and ordered held without bail. Carson is on probation for a previous robbery conviction, but the other two do not have criminal records, the Tribune reports. More»

Seven Chicago teens are being charged over a YouTube video that shows a group of teens beating a 17-year-old in an alley, reports the Chicago Tribune . The teen is kicked, punched, and taunted for several minutes before he manages to escape. Police say the victim was robbed of $180 and his shoes—which the gang beat him with. One 17-year-old boy is being charged as an adult; the remaining five boys and a girl, ages 15 and 16, are being treated as minors. More»

(NEWSER) - In the latest event in the season of teen violence, two Maryland girls have been busted after their videotaped beating of a student was posted on Facebook. On the tape, the two teens tackle the leader of a pom squad at a Silver Spring football game and kick and punch her on the ground, reports the Washington Post. Facebook visitors responded "LOL" and "hahaha" to the beating, apparently triggered over a boy. More»
