The international police agency says 250 items of IT equipment were seized in raids in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, and Spain, the BBC reports. The suspects—including "Pacotron," the alleged chief of Anonymous operations in Spain and Latin America—are accused of planning attacks against targets including Colombia's defense ministry and Chile's national library. Latin American Folk Singer Murdered in Ambush

Facundo Cabral was apparently not the intended target

(NEWSER) - Renowned Latin American folk singer Facundo Cabral was murdered today in an ambush on the streets of Guatemala City. Police say the 74-year-old Argentine was not the intended target of the professional hit, in which three cars surrounded the car he was riding in and opened fire, reports the AP . They think the gunmen were after his promoter, who was wounded in the attack. The slaying has prompted widespread anger and mourning, and even a personal call between the presidents of Argentina and Guatemala. More»

Mexico City Offers Free Honeymoon to Gay Couple

First Argentines to wed get the trip

(NEWSER) - Mexico City—the first city in Latin America to legalize gay marriage—is reaching out to Argentina—the first country in the region to do so . The first Argentine couple to wed under the new law will get a free honeymoon to the Mexican capital. The tourism minister says the offer is to pay tribute to tolerance—"but also to promote gay-friendly tourism," reports AFP . From somewhere, he brandishes a stat that says homosexual tourists spend 47% more than their hetero counterparts. More»
