Rush still has no business trying to own the Rams

(NEWSER) - Columnist Bryan Burwell acknowledges that he is among those who ran with an old quote attributed to Rush Limbaugh on the "merits" of slavery without verifying it. Limbaugh insists he never said it, and Burwell is fine taking him at his word on that. It doesn't change his view that Limbaugh has no business trying to buy the St. Louis Rams. Talk show host has repeatedly bashed players and culture of football league

(NEWSER) - Al Sharpton has urged the NFL to block Rush Limbaugh's purchase of the St. Louis Rams, calling him “anti-NFL.” Sharpton was particularly disturbed, Politico reports, by a “recent statement that the NFL was beginning to look like a fight between the Crips and the Bloods without the weapons.” Really? There are so many others:

• No one is likely to forget when Rush discussed Donovan McNabb back in 2003: "The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well...He got a lot of credit for the performance of this team that he didn't deserve."

Liberals in the media want to keep conservatives down

(NEWSER) - Rush Limbaugh is the victim of a vast left-wing conspiracy. Or so he argues in a Wall Street Journal essay in the wake of his NFL adventures. Lefties in the news business, "including the sportswriter community," have nothing but "contempt" and "blind hatred" for conservatives, he writes. The charge of racism "is too often their sledgehammer. (NEWSER) - Glenn Beck had a weepy "Kodak moment" when he shared old commercials with viewers yesterday and recalled a "simpler" America when "we used to be united." One of the oldie ads he played—a day after fellow right-wing commentator Rush Limbaugh was bounced from a Rams buyers' group amid charges of racism—featured black football star Joe Green accepting a Coke from a young boy.
