(NEWSER) - The 2010 primaries will see the GOP repairing its identity and soul-searching among Democrats. The 10 most important races, according to Chris Cillizza of the Washington Post :

1. Texas governor, R: Rick Perry is running for an unprecedented third term, and voters seem to approve. But Kay Bailey Hutchison is a popular, crafty, and well-funded opponent.
2. Florida Senate, R: The looming battle between Gov. Charlie Crist and former state House Speaker Marco Rubio is being closely watched as a bellwether of the rift between GOP moderates and the insurgent Tea Party movement.

Corzine spot says Christie 'threw his weight around'

(NEWSER) - Jon Corzine, the New Jersey governor locked in an ugly race for reelection, is calling his opponent a big fat liar—with the emphasis on "fat." Senators quietly maneuvering to move in if leader goes down

(NEWSER) - Capitol Hill housemates Charles Schumer and Richard Durbin are likely to end up fighting over a lot more than the breakfast cereal if Harry Reid loses his re-election battle. The senators from New York and Illinois, Reid's top two deputies, are subtly building support for bids to become majority leader—while publicly throwing their full support behind Reid, the New York Times reports. The latest poll has him a full 10 points behind Republican Sue Lowden, and that’s with the independent and Tea Party candidates in the mix, reports the Hill . Reid has trailed in polls consistently throughout the race, but he’s always maintained optimism, saying that the third-party candidates would siphon votes from Lowden. Chuck Heath backs Tarkanian as 'true conservative'

Harry Reid this fall. Chuck Heath endorses Republican Danny Tarkanian as the "true conservative" choice in the radio ad set to air statewide starting next week, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
