(NEWSER) - The "Texts from Hillary" blog just got some text from Hillary. The Tumblr blog has garnered much attention for its meme series featuring fake texts from Clinton, playing off a wire photo of her with her Blackberry. Now the secretary herself is in on the joke. She posted one of her own on the blog: "ROFL @ ur tumblr! g2g—scrunchie time. ttyl?" The post, which also compliments one of the bloggers on his phone self-portrait, or "selfie," has been a Twitter sensation, the Washington Post reports. More»

No More Pro-Anorexia Blogs on Tumblr

Blogging site to enforce new content policy

(NEWSER) - Tumblr is taking a stand against blogs that promote self-harm. When a new content policy goes into effect, likely next week, pro-anorexia blogs or others that urge readers to self-injure will no longer be allowed on the blogging site, according to a staff post today. The Awl and New York's Daily Intel blog note that the policy has divided users and will be difficult to enforce. The post itself notes that the prohibition "is intended to reach only those blogs that cross the line into active promotion or glorification," meaning that jokes about starving yourself are fine but advice about how to starve yourself is not. Judge: Blogger Is Not a Journalist

Woman ordered to pay $2.5M for online defamation

(NEWSER) - In what could end up being very bad news for outspoken bloggers across America, a federal judge has decided that a blogger was not acting as a journalist when she accused an Oregon lawyer of acting unethically and illegally as a trustee in a bankruptcy hearing. The judge denied Crystal Cox's request for legal protections customarily offered to journalists, and a jury subsequently ordered her to pay $2.5 million for defaming lawyer Kevin Padrick and his company. Man Busted in 2 Sex Assaults at Wall Street Camp

Teens assaulted in tents: police

(NEWSER) - A Brooklyn man has been arrested for two sex assaults on teenagers at the Occupy Wall Street camp in Zuccotti Park. One of the victims, 18, reported to police she was raped in a tent in the camp; a 17-year-old protester said she was groped in her tent. Tony Iketubosin, 26, has been charged with third-degree sex abuse in that incident, and still faces charges in the rape, police told the Wall Street Journal . Iketubosin told police he has been living in the camp for more than a week. More»
