(NEWSER) - It goes without saying that violence has a negative impact on children—but a new study suggests that it can actually age their DNA by as much as seven to 10 years. Researchers examined children's telomeres—DNA sequences found at the ends of chromosomes that keep the chromosomes from unraveling—and found that they shortened more quickly in children who had been exposed to two or more types of violence, including witnessing domestic violence, being physically abused, or being bullied. (NEWSER) - A spike in gay domestic violence slayings has alarmed advocates in Massachusetts, who say the justice system is insensitive to warning signs of gay-on-gay abuse. The state has seen seven such killings since 2010, but attempts to educate police have sputtered, the Boston Globe reports. “It was pretty traumatizing,’’ says one gay advocate of a workshop attended by police—who walked out. “As soon as we started in on the content, one officer asked: 'Why are we here? Marston Hefner allegedly beat up Playmate of the Year Claire Sinclair

(NEWSER) - Hugh Hefner's son is making headlines, but not for a good reason: Marston, Hef's 21-year-old son, was arrested last night for allegedly attacking last year's Playmate of the Year … who also just so happens to be his girlfriend. Police were called to the California pad where the younger Hefner lives with Claire Sinclair, 20, after a Sinclair family member called 911. Sinclair was visibly injured, law enforcement sources tell TMZ , and she told police Hefner punched and kicked her and then blocked her from leaving. Hefner admitted to an argument, but denied hitting Sinclair, whom he has been dating on-and-off since 2010. More»
