Tensions over the country's nuclear ambitions have already pushed crude oil prices up 20% to a record winter high, energy experts tell the New York Times . That's translated to an average $3.73 per gallon at pumps nationwide, with prices well over $4 in California. Summer usually pushes prices around 20 cents higher, but tensions with Iran could tack on an extra 50 cents or more. More»

Ford, Toyota Join Forces on Hybrid System

Partnership prompted by airport-terminal chat

(NEWSER) - A trans-Pacific partnership between Ford and Toyota is set to bring us a new generation of hybrid vehicles. The two companies will join together in creating a gas-electric hybrid system suited to light trucks and SUVs, the Wall Street Journal reports. (USER SUBMITTED) - The price at the pump edged up 3.9 cents in the last two weeks to an average of $2.91 per gallon, according to the latest Lundberg Survey, which sampled gas prices at 2,500 filling stations across the US. That's 28 cents higher than it was last December. At this rate, says the survey's publisher, "We may easily pay three dollars per gallon or more by Christmas." More»
