(NEWSER) - CNN may not be asking Kathy Griffin to host another New Year's Eve special after her ribald reply to a heckler made its way onto live TV, the New York Post reports. "Screw you!" the comedian, who says she thought she was off-air at the time, yelled at the razzer. "Why don't you get a job buddy? Fox News Ratings Plunge

Fox drops 13%—but still has top 13 programs in cable news

(NEWSER) - Fox News is still leading the cable news ratings race—but for how long? Fox's overall ratings for November dropped 13% compared to the same month last year, reports Mediabistro . For the juicy 25-to-54-year-old bracket, the fall was even steeper, plunging 30% in prime time. CNN, on the other hand, was up 4% over last year, with Anderson Cooper's AC 360 up a big 40%. Regardless of those trends, however, Fox News still accounts for the top 13 cable news shows, led by The O'Reilly Factor and Hannity. The top-rated non-Fox program is The Rachel Maddow Show. CNN Cancels Eliot Spitzer's Show

Network says it's talking to him about an 'alternative role'

(NEWSER) - Eliot Spitzer is being forced out again —this time from his TV show. CNN has canceled In The Arena and will fill its 8pm time slot with Anderson Cooper's AC360, reports the Huffington Post . In The Arena was itself a replacement for Parker Spitzer , which the former New York governor co-hosted with Washington Post columnist Kathleen Parker before she quit earlier this year. More»

Anderson Cooper, Crew Attacked in Egypt

No serious injuries, CNN reports

(NEWSER) - Reporting from Cairo, Anderson Cooper and his crew were attacked by Hosni Mubarak supporters today. (Update: For video, click here .) CNN’s Steve Brusk first tweeted a report from Cooper that he was “punched 10 times in the head,” and Cooper himself later described the attack on CNN : As they were trying to get to a neutral zone, “we were set upon by pro-Mubarak supporters punching us in the head.
