Police accuse Darquesha Wilkinson, 19, and Latasha Mungo, 24, of stealing high-end lotions, makeup, and perfume in an ongoing scheme to resell the products at cheaper prices. More»

(NEWSER) - So we didn't kill off the Neanderthals after all. That's the conclusion of researchers who analyzed Neanderthal-bone DNA and deduced that most of them died off in Western Europe during the Ice Age, long before encountering modern humans. (NEWSER) - Cave paintings in Spain may be the oldest ever found and the first known by Neanderthal artists, New Scientist reports. Oddly resembling a DNA double helix, the paintings actually depict seals—which locals in Malaga, Spain, would have eaten at the time. Charcoal remains near the paintings, in Spain's Nerja caves, date back to about 43,000 years ago—noticeably older than the 30,000-year-old Chauvet paintings in France. More»

The New York Times reports today on the growing trend of designer lipstick, one tube of which will cost you up to $60. “I heard and read repeatedly in many of the magazines I go through and devour that his red is the red to be wearing,” said one woman who waited in a long line at Bergdorf Goodman recently to meet designer Tom Ford, whose new cosmetics line is being sold there.
