Favre interception helps sink Vikings

(AP) - The New Orleans Saints are heading to their first Super Bowl after battering Brett Favre and beating the Minnesota Vikings in overtime tonight, 31-28, on unheralded Garrett Hartley's 40-yard field goal. Favre threw away Minnesota's best chance to win, tossing an interception to Tracy Porter deep in New Orleans territory in the closing seconds of regulation. Drew Brees has highest career completion percentage

(NEWSER) - Last night's Super Bowl didn't just net the Saints a win, but added some names to the record books as well. At 82.1%, QB Drew Brees now has the highest Super Bowl career completion percentage. The New Orleans Times-Picayune takes a look at other new records:

• Most completions: The Saints' 32 and the Colts 31 make 63, the most ever in a Super Bowl.
• Completion percentage: The teams' combined stats average at 75%, the best of all time.

(NEWSER) - We all know the big names playing in tomorrow’s Super Bowl—Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Reggie Bush—but Irin Carmon has an enormous crush on Saints linebacker Scott Fujita, and thinks you should, too. Some reasons why, per Jezebel :

• Though he was given up for adoption by a teen mom (and adopted by a Japanese-American family), he’s not on board with Tim Tebow’s pro-life ad. “I’m just so thankful she had the courage and the support system to be able to carry out the pregnancy,” Fujita said. “I wouldn’t expect that of everybody.”

Indy handles the Ravens, and New Orleans routs Arizona

(AP) - The Indianapolis Colts and the New Orleans Saints are moving on in the playoffs. Peyton Manning led Indy to a methodical 20-3 win over the Baltimore Ravens and will play the winner of tomorrow's Jets-Chargers game for the AFC title. New Orleans, meanwhile, got big performances from Reggie Bush and Drew Brees and routed Arizona 45-14. The Saints will host the NFC title game for the first time in franchise history, playing the winner of the Cowboys-Vikings matchup. More»
