(NEWSER) - Conan O'Brien's good friends Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert made an appearance last night at the New York City stop of his comedy tour. For what purpose? A dance-off, of course. (NEWSER) - A very special guest joined Conan O’Brien for his Los Angeles comedy shows: Jim Carrey. Dressed as a superhero, he sang a duet of Five for Fighting’s “Superman” with O’Brien that involved lots of theatrics, thrusting…and Carrey on trombone. After the first night’s show, Carrey—in his now-typical fashion—took to Twitter and rather oddly tweeted , “Loved doin' concert with Conan!So many faces wide open like kids!The world was new and worry forgotten by all of us! O'Brien gets standing ovation at first show

(NEWSER) - Conan O’Brien’s long-awaited comedy tour kicked off last night to much cheering. Get in on the jokes:

• The show, which opened in Eugene, Ore., caters to old-school Late Night fans, the “I’m With Coco” artist tells PopEater . Along with former Tonight Show band members and Andy Richter, familiar characters included Triumph the Insult Comic Dog and the Self-Pleasuring Panda (NBC lawyers note—it’s not the Masturbating Bear!).
• “This is the first time anyone has paid to see me. They've paid me to go away,” said O'Brien, who directed several digs at NBC, the AP reports. Among others: a film in which he played a bald “generic network executive” (Jeff Zucker, anyone?), and a modified version of “I Will Survive.”

But O'Brien still keeping his options open

(NEWSER) - After stalling for two weeks, Conan O’Brien’s talks with Fox have resumed, and certain details make it look as if a deal is imminent. Updates, from the Hollywood Reporter :

• Conveniently enough, O’Brien’s comedy tour has a performance scheduled every day between May 13 and 20—except May 17, which just so happens to be the date of Fox’s upfront presentation.
• O’Brien was invited to participate in Fox’s American Idol special “Idol Gives Back” on April 21, but NBC shot that idea down since O’Brien’s settlement does not allow for any TV appearances until May 1.

O'Brien contract talks delayed; late night trashing continues

(NEWSER) - As the late night hosts’ jabs at each other and NBC go on…and on…and on, the severance deal between Conan O’Brien and NBC continues to be delayed. TMZ reports the hold-up is over how long O’Brien will be barred from slamming the network—which he did last night...in Spanish. He also wants $600,000 added to the severance pot for his staff, which currently stands at $12 million. Still, sources say a deal should be finalized today. More»
