(NEWSER) - The Tea Party and the religious right have a complex, overlapping relationship, a new poll on conservative trends found. Half of those who identified as members of the Tea Party also considered themselves part of the Christian right, a poll by the Public Religion Research Institute found. Overall, 11% of the approximately 3,000 respondents identified with the Tea Party movement, while 22% described themselves as Christian conservative, reports the Washington Post . More»

(NEWSER) - Sarah Palin sounded so relaxed in a recent interview about blowing a joint in the privacy of one's own home that it almost sounded like pot could be the conservative Alaskan's cup of tea. She definitely does not support legalizing the drug, but added, "If somebody's gonna smoke a joint in their house and not do anybody else any harm, then perhaps there are other things our cops should be looking at, and try to clean up some of the other problems that we have in society, Palin said on the Fox Business Network. Incumbents Win North Carolina, Ohio Primaries

(NEWSER) - Wait, wasn't this supposed to be the year of anti-Washington anger run amok? You wouldn't know it to look at last night's primary results: Incumbents won across the board in North Carolina and Ohio, while Indiana Republicans picked Washington veteran Dan Coats. Turnout was especially light in Ohio and North Carolina, which the AP sees as a sign both that voters aren't as fired up as advertised, and that the Tea Party movement is more bark than bite. More»
